Owl Pellets

As part of our unit on biodiversity we examined owl pellets to study an example of the food chain. Owls swallow their prey whole and then late regurgitates the bones in a pellet. By examing these pellets, we can learn what owls eat and the quantity of prey in a region.

It was also fun to try to assemble skeletons of prey from the bones we found in the pellet.

Our pellets were purchased, which means they were sanitized.
